I am an artist based in London. Growing up in Bombay I was fortunate to have an aunt who ignited my passion for creativity. Together we explored various forms such as textile painting, patchwork and embroidery. These early years laid the foundation for my artistic journey.
As an adult I found my way back to art driven by my experiences in both India and Kenya, which was home for four years.
In my artistic pursuit I have developed a fascination for capturing personalities of individuals that I paint. I also have a keen interest in depicting the drapes and folds of fabric.
Acrylics is my preferred medium for painting. However, I have also experimented extensively with charcoals, chalk pastels and oils. Of these disciplines my most favourite is working with charcoal. Various tones and strokes that can be formed with charcoal never cease to amaze me! I have created an entire collection of Ganeshas (the elephant God of good fortune) in this medium.
During lockdown my interest in folk music, folk costumes and folk art led me to experiment with Lipan Art which is also known as Mud & Mirror Art.
I have found this art form to be truly therapeutic and enjoyable. I find myself admiring patterns and colours in everything I see. It’s been a great journey expressing myself through this art from that originated in the Kutch region of Western India.
