Ganesh is everyone’s favourite elephant God! The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is magnificently celebrated in my home town, Mumbai. He is known as the God of prosperity and wisdom as well as remover of all obstacles. It is auspicious to start all good deeds by praying to Lord Ganesh. 

 

Charcoal is my preferred medium to portray the different characteristics - mischievousness, wisdom, intellect - of Ganesh. Everything about Ganesh depictions is symbolic and has deeper meaning. Big ears he is a good listener, small eyes show his focused vision, his big head symbolises broad thinking and wisdom and so on.
